{"id":620,"date":"2017-01-23T11:42:29","date_gmt":"2017-01-23T11:42:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.liftingshackles.com\/uk\/?page_id=620"},"modified":"2017-05-30T11:42:00","modified_gmt":"2017-05-30T10:42:00","slug":"quality-certification","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.liftingshackles.com\/uk\/quality-certification\/","title":{"rendered":"Quality Certification"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Quality Certification<\/h2>\n<p>Petersen Stainless Rigging Ltd is an ISO9001:2008 and AS9100 rev C certified manufacturer.<\/p>\n<h2>Testing Petersen Lifting Shackles and Blocks<\/h2>\n<p>All of our lifting shackles and blocks are inspected before they are tested and inspected again before they are despatched. A thorough examinaton takes place ensuring that:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The body of the shackle and pin are both compatible.<\/li>\n<li>The block has been assembled properly and to our satisfaction.<\/li>\n<li>All markings are clearly legible.<\/li>\n<li>The shackle pin is the correct type for the body.<\/li>\n<li>The threads of the shackle pin and the body are in good order and function correctly.<\/li>\n<li>All parts are examined ensuring that no parts are damaged in any way and are free from any dents, cracks, deformation etc.<\/li>\n<li>All load rated shackles\/blocks are supplied with a Working Load Limit (WLL) and proof load test certificate in accordance with EN10204 3.1b. Each shackle\/block is individually tested to its proof load (2 x WLL).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Each shackle\/block is mechanically engraved with the following details<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>WLL<\/li>\n<li>Batch number specific to the test for that batch of product<\/li>\n<li>The grade of stainless steel which the product is manufactured from<\/li>\n<li>CE mark<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Lifting Operations and Lifting Regulations (LOLER) 1998 specify that the following provisions apply to all shackles\/blocks used in a lifting application. It is the responsibility of the user to ensure that:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The equipment is safe and suitable for the intended use.<\/li>\n<li>The equipment is supplied with a leaftlet providing information on its safe use.<\/li>\n<li>The personnel who use the equipment must be suitably trained.<\/li>\n<li>The equipment must be maintained in a safe condition.<\/li>\n<li>Record of conformity, test and examination etc. must be retained.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.liftingshackles.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/Material-Cert-Sample.pdf\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-357\" title=\"Material Certificate Sample\" src=\"http:\/\/www.liftingshackles.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/Material-Cert-Sample-154x200.jpg\" alt=\"Material Certificate Sample\" width=\"154\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/www.liftingshackles.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/Sample-Declaration.pdf\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-359\" title=\"Sample Declaration Certificate\" src=\"http:\/\/www.liftingshackles.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/Sample-Declaration-154x200.jpg\" alt=\"Sample Declaration Certificate \" width=\"154\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/www.liftingshackles.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/sample-EC-leaflet.pdf\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-361\" title=\"Sample EC Leaflet\" src=\"http:\/\/www.liftingshackles.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/sample-EC-leaflet-141x200.jpg\" alt=\"Sample EC Leaflet\" width=\"141\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a>\n<div class=\"content-spacer\"><\/div>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Instructions for use<\/h2>\n<p>Shackles\/blocks should be inspected before use to ensure that:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>All markings are legible.<\/li>\n<li>The threads of the shackle pin and the body are undamaged.<\/li>\n<li>Never use a safety type bolt\/pin without using the split cotter pin.<\/li>\n<li>The equipment is not distorted or unduly worn.<\/li>\n<li>The equipment is free from nicks, gouges, cracks and corrosion.<\/li>\n<li>Shackles may not be heat treated as this may affect their working load limit.<\/li>\n<li>Never modify, repair or reshape a shackle or block as this will affect the Working Load Limit.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Inspection of the Petersen Lifting Shackles and Blocks<\/h2>\n<p>Before any piece of equipment is first put into use it should be examined for signs of damage.<\/p>\n<p>If it is known, or suspected, that the equipment has been subjected to an excess load or it shows any sign of cracking, splitting or deformation, it must be destroyed.<\/p>\n<p>It is required that the equipment is regularly inspected and that the inspection should take place in accordance with the safety standards given in the country of use. This is required because the products in use may be affected by wear, misuse, overloading etc., with a consequence of deformation and alteration of the material structure.
